Procedure for configuring CIM to generate on-demand pricebook data for a specified customer.

  This procedure describes how to configure the CV1 Integration Module (CIM) in such a way that pricebook data for a given customer can be easily generated on-demand without having to configure CIM specifically for that customer.  The resulting configuration does require a license to CIM, but it does not require that CIM be active in DAC in order to generate the data.  Additionally, the process that generates the data is stand-alone and does not depend on,  is not influenced by,  and will not interfere with any scheduled EDI/Integration processes.

1.) From the main DAC menu, take option 9, then option 13.  Press F10 to add a new Super Target.

2.) Enter the fields as indicated below.  Then, press F7 and confirm.  (The Super Target ID is a system-assigned number and may vary from that shown below. Make a note of the number as it appears on your system as this is needed in a later step.)


3.) Press F7 to "Add Global Customer".

4.) Press F3 to return to the Super Target list.  Locate the newly-created Super Target and enter an "S" beside it.

5.) Enter "2" for Entry Type, "CI" for Topic, "2" for Version, and "1" for Mod Lvl.  Then press enter.

6.) Press F3 twice to exit to the CV1 Integration Menu.  Then, take option 20, then option 1 for "Item Dispatch".

7.) Enter the fields as indicated below.  The customer number shown in the "Limit to Customer" field is for illustration purposes. You may enter any valid customer for which you wish to generate a pricebook file. When complete, press enter.

8.) After pressing enter in step 7, the Folder and Folder Document fields will be displayed.  For Folder, enter any valid folder in the QDLS file system.  For example, "MAILBOX/OUT/000073".  For File Name, enter any valid QDLS file name. (For example, "pbook.dat"). Note that the user must be enrolled to use Client Access, and the folder must already exist.

9.) Press F7 to save your settings.  When prompted, enter "Pricebook Dump" for Description.  If the pricebook dump will be automatically scheduled, enter "Y" for Auto Scheduled (See footnote).   Enter "PBDUMP" for Tag.  Press enter and confirm, then press F3.

The configuration is now complete.  In order to generate a pricebook file for a customer, follow these steps:

From the main DAC menu, take option 9, then option 20, then option 1.

2.) Press F8 to select a saved dispatch.  Choose the one entitled "Pricebook Dump".

3.) Modify the field "Limit to Customer" to be the customer for whom the pricebook is being generated.  Press F6 to process.

A job called "ITEMDUMP" will be submitted to batch.  When the job is complete, your file should be ready in the specified folder.  If the file already existed, it will be replaced.  The format of the data in the file is documented here.  Repeat the three steps above for as many different customers as required.  It is not necessary to wait until one process is complete before starting the next with a different customer number.  In this case, however, it may be required to change the Folder Document field to some other value to avoid overwriting the first.

* If it is necessary to automate this process, any saved dispatch may be executed using the command EDIAUTOSCH.  For example, to automatically process the pricebook dump illustrated here each day at 5:00 PM, you may create a job schedule entry to execute the command EDIAUTOSCH TAG(PBDUMP) at that time.  Another option may be to include the command in the DAC End of Day User Point program.  To be eligible to process with the EDIAUTOSCH command, a Saved Dispatch must have the Auto Scheduled field set to "Y".  (See step 9)
