Header Record:  (For ASCII transmission only)

A header record is present as the first record in every ASCII file sent except for PIDF segments.  PIDF segments contain no header record.   Furthermore, Non-PIDF “INVOICE” and “PURCHORD” segments contain this header directly before their own header record-- meaning this record could appear multiple times within the same physical file.

This record contains control information used to route the file to the proper recipient and identify the data that the file contains.  All fields noted as numeric should be right justified and zero filled.  The system administrator at either system is responsible for coordinating valid location numbers.
